Help with cannibalism in turkey pullets
« on: March 18, 2008, 19:16 »
Hi hope someone can help iv raised chickens for over three years and hatched chicks with no problems. I also raised 6 week old turkeys for christmess with no problems but iv just been given 22,  day olds, bronze turkeys, i have had them for a week but today they have started to peck each other, two of them are hurt badley, there bottoms have been pecked so i have seperated them, but the way it's going i will have to have 22 little units for them to be seperate because they are all doing it. Am i doing somthing wrong, is it the feed, are they bord, iv put in some cd's to distract them, can it be that its too small a space. i dont have any beak clips and im not sure about debeaking and weather i could do it. CAN ANY ONE HELP ME, IM GOING MAD
I LOVE MY CHICKENS

too little room is a main cause for pecking each other, how much space does each bird have?

purple spray them all, it doesnt taste good to them, may help prevent it, or you can get beak rings, that clip onto beaks, no pain, but helps.
