Spindly cabbages

Due to other more pressing things (my FILs death and subsequent funeral arrangements) I have neglected my cabbage seedlings and they have gone VERY spindly. They are about 4/5 inches tall with their first leaves at the very top!

:?: Can I rescue them by repotting so that I put them in up to the leaves? Or am I best starting over?

Sounds too tall to transplant, 'cos where? into 7 inch tall pots, still won't have root room... maybe into a deep cold frame?

Bravely sow again.

I think it might be worth repotting them,plant them has deep has you can upto the 1st leaf
