I actually really rate my big plastic composter on the plot and the smaller one at home.
If you want to get a heap going add piddle, fresh horse or cow dung, prilled urea or sulphate of ammonia. All are high in nitrogen
I've also got pallet bins and just got some carpet from sis-in-law's redevelopment for them. The big bin has my old office rug to keep it warm.

I'm very excited as have just been offered some scaffold boards (for my raised beds) and some manure to help start off my compost. Freecycle is great - hope that you've all heard of it?

Am going to build a square compost bin from pallets on Saturday (oh please be dry) and get it going.

thanks to everyone for advice - I'll have to save my wee for the weekend
trying to be organic...
