vaccinating chickens

I am not sure if my chooks have been vaccinated and believe if I asked the lady I got them from she'd say yes if that was the case or not. (we think we were told a few porkies when we got them!) Are their eggs safe to eat if they haven't been vaccinated? We're not selling the eggs and don't plan to. Are you supposed to vaccinate them if they are just a small flock for the garden? Also what's it for, salmonella?
Thanks  :?

Very few hens are vaccinated and it is really only necessary to vaccinate them if they are to be kept in a large flock.  I'm sure there will be no risk from your hens eggs  :D
