cucumber problems!

previous years i have grown female variety cucumbers in the greenhouse.
they start off very well producing lots of young fruit, a large amount then start to wither.
What could be the problem, Any ideas?, have tried withholding excessive watering. I have also shaded them, no luck.

They need excessive watering. Especially, in pots and grow bags.

Try putting the growbag on it's side....to get more soil to the roots...or better still use the cultured ring method: insert a large bottomless pot into the growbag, fill the pot with compost and plant your cucumber plant into that. You will find that the plant will get more water and feed when grown like this and will grow stronger too!! :)

I think a grow bag will not hold sufficient water without saturating it (not good) or watering 3-4 times a day in summer.  Ring culture will increase the volume of soil to hold more water.  I prefere a BIG pot, and I still water twice a day  :D

Mine are still in the seed packet.  I'll probably sow them at the beginning of April.
