It didn't even occur to me to ask Worzel if I could get some chickens.  I just told him when they were arriving

His response was "but I don't like birds (except wild ones).

You've guessed it, he now makes more fuss over them than I do

would you suggest garlic granules in food or water or the fresh stuff?
If you do things well, do them better. Be daring, be first, be different, be just.

Hi Aidy!

Have you thought about Rescue chooks - not many women can resist an animal that needs a little extra TLC.  Or do what i did with my OH and go ahead buy the coop and stuff then just vaugely mention thats its going to happen like it or lump it      He loves them and even got excited about them 3 hours before they arrived - right up to that point he was still reluctant.
1 x hubby
2 x daughters
3 x chickens
1 x bunny
6 x african snails  . . . . . and counting.

Ok, subject came up again,I thought I had found a weak spot, she mentioned if we won the lottery she would love to have a farm, bingo, counting on this so I said well lets get some chooks and have a mini farm. What I was'nt banking on was the reason she dont want them in the garden, next door had two geese, one night a fox got in and made a bit of a mess, she dont the kids to wake up to the same sort of slaughter that happend to them. I can see where she is coming from but I am sure we could build it fox proof but I know it will take a lot of convincing.

Good move Aidy !

You can do the fox proof thing with a bit of outlay and care.

Just needs enough 19g wire mesh to enclose the area with a skirt or slabs round the edge plus enough height and Bob's a family member.

You can even give them the garden under supervision or leccy fence.
