Could I be turning gay ?
« on: March 04, 2008, 12:49 »

I've kept Macho game chickens for many years but following my success at hatching the Maran chicks the other day, I've just been out and purchased a dozen and a half Light Sussex hatching eggs to go under two more game hens that have gone broody.

My question is this, am  I on a slippery slope now and are there any other behavioural changes that I should keep a watchful eye open for ?

Pictures of parent stock to follow later.  :D

I'm finding the experience strangely disturbing Viv

I only managed two pictures on the digital camera before the battery conked. The people who I bought the eggs off only charged me £1.50p for the full eighteen eggs which was obviously vey generous.
They had a wondeful set up and only kept the Sussex chickens.
As well as the adults, they had some chicks that were a few weeks old under a brooder, but as I say, as I was about to photograph them, the battery went.

They say to call back at anytime and I probably will. I can't wait to get these eggs under the broodys tonight. :D

I know its counting chickens before they hatch but a small flock of Marans and Sussex running loose should look very nice. I'm determined to draw the line at ever keeping Silkies though.

Fear of 'pretty' chickens - incompetent with technology - making promises you can't keep ..........

I think you're what they call 'unreconstructed' Bodg

If you do things well, do them better. Be daring, be first, be different, be just.
