Sadly we lost our old cat during the night
« on: March 04, 2008, 11:18 »
So sad this morning because our old cat died in the night. She was deaf and recently lost her sight as well but seemed content to move between the Aga and her food. She was otherwise fit with a glossy coat so we had hoped to have her for a few more years than 15. She moved over here with us and has shared our adventure here which makes her really part of our little family.

Holly came to us at a few months old, from the Cats Protection League. She had been called Elvis by her previous family who no longer wanted her. She was such a gentle cat, never really a hunter, just loved human company and lots of cuddles.

She just looked asleep so at least hadn't suffered as she was still on her cushion so it must have been quick.

We so love our animals and know the day has to come when they leave us but it doesn't make it any easier does it?

Now we must find a sunny spot in the garden so she can always have sunshine.

Sorry about your cat - I still feel sad about poor old Fatty who died years ago. He was a soppy old thing too.
All the best

Big hugs and cuddles from me. Know how you feel. Just think that she enjoyed her time with you. A sunny spot she will enjoy in your garden.
Happiest in the countryside.
Breathe deeply, and let the butterflies fly in formation!

Thank you all so much. We've just buried her in a nice sunny spot. Will miss her so much...even though she just slept, ate and slept a little more.

Really sorry to hear this Judi.

Our cat is 14 and loosing weight rapidly.  He just sleeps and eats (mind you he's done that most of his life   ).  Despite my posts about the dislike of the cat intrudes on us, we love OUR cat.  They have such brilliant individual personalities and will only give out love when they choose to the people they choose.

I'm sorry again for your loss but relieved she went so peacefully.  What a blessing that was.  I'm sure she had THE best life with you.

That's a real shame Judi.

We buried our Collins in his favourite blanket in the garden years ago.
Even the dog wanted to say goodbye to him, he was a gentle cat too.

Always sad but you obviously gave her a lifestyle she was born for.
She must have very thankful for that.

Commiserations - never had cats (doggie person) but I'm sure emotions the same.  No matter how aware of the shortness of their little lives the sense of sadness is still surprisingly upsetting.  You gave your cat a good life I'm sure - just hold on to the happy memories.

My thoughts are with you.  Losing an animal is always hard no matter what variety it is.

I have had to put my last two cats down..one was 18 with kidney failure so i could reason to myself that he had had a good life but my last cat was only 6 when we had to put him down as he had FIP.  Such a young age for a cat and he was soo friendly..he was even purring as they put him to sleep   :(

Take care and remember all the adventures you shared  :)
