Our allotment has it's first plant !

We bought a crown of champagne rhubarb, which I have planted in a small raised bed, enriched with some compost and year old manure. I have covered it up with a plant pot and some polythene to keep it snug and rabbit-proof (we still haven't finished our chicken wiring)

Does that sound OK ?

If you cover the rhubarb you might weaken it. Covering is usually done to force the plant for an early crop. Generally I find rhubarb tough as old boots. Leave it uncovered with poly, but cover it with wire to rabbit / chicken proof it
