« on: December 18, 2025, 13:33 »
when we went down the allotments the other day I noticed our leek tops had fallen over they didn't look good at all and I don't know the reason why this has happened could it be due the cold wet weather and will the recover come spring ?

maybe its the variety we are growing but then again there F1'S they where growing quite well several weeks ago and I know things do stop growing in the winter so can anyone give me so advise of  what mite have happened to the leeks

Were they just fallen over, or did they look twisted as well?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

In that case, it's probably just weather rather than bug damage (leek moth tends to make them twisted)

My winter leeks were a bit all over the place when I visited the plot this morning.  No sign of pest damage, just toppling over and looking not quite right.  I even had a couple going to seed, which I thought was a bit uncalled for in January  ::)

I’ve harvested most of mine in case I lose the lot.  Any surplus can go in the dehydrator or the freezer.

Mine did the same over winter, just flopped over after the wet spells. Harvested what was left and chucked them in the freezer rather than risk losing them. At least they're still usable that way.

will my leeks be ok?
