Long winter evenings = seedaholic moments!
« on: December 18, 2024, 19:49 »
Well despite my best intentions I have bought some extra seeds to try next year, even ones I said I was done with.  Aubergines for a start

In my defence, one of my plot neighbours was walking past me all summer with armfuls of long thin aubergines he was growing outside with no polytunnel.  He reckons the rest of the world grow these type with ease and it is our fixation with the rounded ones that is our downfall.  I found a mixed pack of purple, green and white aubergine seeds for £1.49, so naturally I’m going to have a go myself.

There are a few other new to me veg that snuck into my online basket together with some old favourite annual flowers seeds.  They were all around £1 a pack, so that doesn’t count … right

Anyone else succumbing to temptation ?

I keep being tempted to look, but have managed to resist, so far, apart from buying a multi-pack of spring-flowering bulbs.
Alas, I just don't have the room, nowadays ::)

Welcome to the club Ali. Us seedaholics are a well established tradition on here and we always welcome new members.  It makes us feel better about buying so many

T&M haven’t sent me an email about a seed sale, but there is one.  Search for seed clearance on their site, but this is what I have bought on the advice of my allotmenting friend ;)

I just couldn't stop myself. you never know if all your plans for next year get screwed by thoughtless growers buying all the seeds that you want in the spring!
got myself Isobel rose onion seed and some long beetroots just in case.

I have given up on growing aubergines from seed. I am also giving up on  the  Thompson and Morgan postiplug aubergines, they failed miserably last year. The only ones that do well for me are the grafted plants sold by Waitrose. I did also do the long Asian ones, which I bought as little plants in an Asian corner shop, they did well in a large pot.

I’m being good, I ordered from Kings via garden club after going through my boxes & stash (quite a vast stash to be honest) and only ordered what I was short of or wanting to try a different variety and I’m not looking any where else  :D

I've been adding seeds to a premier seeds order but I need to go through my old seeds and do a bit of a stock check
