Strawberries

Why have my new strawberry plants got these spots on them
had bought these because my other plants were 3-4 years on and never produced much fruit

They’ve been eaten by something, probably snails & slugs, check under the pots, I cut all the leaves off after fruiting normally, but only just got round to doing mine last week, so I suggest you do that as you plant them if you’re going to do it soon, gives the plants time to establish a good root system, looks as if they’ve produced runners as well, so you could chop them off too or pot them up/plant whilst still attached for new plants but that will weaken the mother plant but you could sacrifice that one to get more offspring plants.

They are in a barrel type planter, on feet, slugs, snails cant get to them
They were 3 new plants, bought this year,
I push the runners back into the ground, they have produced new plants, now I am cutting them off
Its the patches on the leaves I am wondering about

If I can get them decimating plants in my hanging basket, then they can easily slime up the feet and pot to get to them!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Well I can confirm its not slugs or snails
I was wondering because of the brown marks, if they have a disease or something

Never had any slugs or snails in my baskets (maybe the slugs and snails just dont climbing)

Check for slime trails on the side of your tubs and under them, the feet you have your tubs on are prime for slugs/snails.

Looks like insect damage (leaf miner?). Try rootling around the soil for signs of eggs.

I’ve used these things for several years, they do work, I’ve found lots of empty snail shells never seen a corpse of slugs though

I though a black bird was eating the snails, they are all near a stone they use as an anvil
