Bottling fruit in the Aga
« on: Yesterday at 13:27 »
Hello,I am a new member here. I've started bottling fruit. Has anyone bottled apple quarters in the bottom of the Aga, at 130 degrees Centigrade using the dry pack method? When preparing the apples for hot water bath method I have used salt in the water to prevent discolouration. I have some jars that are too tall for my preserving pan. The advice I've seen recommends 150 degrees for apples wet pack for 30-60 minutes (depending on size of apples). My oven won't get to 150 degrees and the top oven is 220 degrees. Thank you.
