can any of you good people reccomend a good red onion [from seed] we are happy with Ailsa Craig as a good white onion but want to try different red for next year  thanks in advance.

I grew Red Baron last year and Red Tide this year. Both provided a good crop. This year Red Tide were sown in February and harvested in late August.

Had decent results with Red Brunswick from seed this year.

I had a good crop with Red Baron this year.  In fact they did better than my Turbo white onions.

I've grown Red Spark the last 4 years or so. As well as giving decent crops they also store very well often lasting beyond my 'whites'.

we always grow a coupe of varieties of red onion mammoth red and red brunswick the mammoth red tend to be a more larger onion than most  but a good flavour both well worth a trying
