Blight on tomatoes
« on: September 06, 2024, 17:35 »
Looks like I have blight on my tomatoes both at home and on the plot.
Probably not surprising given the weather we have had recently ie very wet and humid. How is everyone else getting on, assuming you’re as rash as me and grow them outside??
Keep digging

My greenhouse ones have escaped and I’ve just about harvested the lot now.  Outside the Burlesque (beefsteaks) had to be picked early a week or so back as they were showing the first signs of blight.  I’ve saved at least 3/4s and they ripened indoors.

Both the Crimson Crush and Cocktail Crush on the plot are still fine.  I went yesterday and harvested everything ripe and everything showing colour. I was counting as I picked and got over 100 fruits.  There are still some very green ones on the plants, but I have chanced them.  Yesterday evening was a busy one making a huge batch of sauce for the freezer and there are lots more ripening indoors.

There are blighted tomatoes around on other plots though.  Looks like any non-blight resistant types have been ruined by it.
