Ambo!

Not been able to get hold of them this year so hoping they are back in the catalogues next year.

I’ve tried Sarpo Mira this year and have been really impressed. Only had them roasted so far, but I’ll report back on how they bake. I choose them for their blight resistance as I never manage to get a main crop to full maturity. My charlottes were blighted a month ago, but the Sarpo Mira are still looking very healthy.

Have you got a plot neighbours who could give you some other varieties to try the taste of before you commit?

That’s why I’ve been using Nemaslug on mine. One application at the end of June and another a week ago seem to be working as the Charlottes were almost untouched. Fingers crossed for the main crops.

we grow Cara as a main crop every year because we find it crops well on our ground but we also found when we grew Cara on my Daughters allotment this year they didn't crop as well as i thought they would maybe that ground was to dry ? we also grew on our allotments  Charlotte for our salad crop together with pink fire apple  Arron Pilot as a first early some in tubs some in raised beds and the ones in the raised beds cropped the best so it looks like Cara for next season maybe try a new variety for our early potatoes ?

Only grow two types that work for me.

Charlotte and Desiree
Tried the Sharpo Mira last year as advertised as the perfect northern spud  :D roasting, chipping etc not that impressed by the crop compared to Desiree.

Picasso!  Delicious flavour and a light texture with a skin that goes crispy.
