Runner beans - a different problem
« on: August 15, 2024, 09:30 »
I have always had very prolific runner beans, in fact so much that I had too many.
Then I discovered dwarf beans keep producing and come much earlier, so I split 50/50.

Last year, all good, but this year the runners are really struggling.  Not many flowers and they look really damaged, however no signs of aphids (for once) and not sure what the cause of this damage is.
Looks pest related to me...

In the UK I'd have blamed snails, but where you are I'd guess at caterpillars, or maybe even birds pecking at the leaves?
I used to get that when I lived in Greece, they'd fly in from the olive grove next door, pretty to watch, but very annoying.....

I agree with MoS, it looks like bird damage to me.
