RIP ‘Wighty’
« on: July 10, 2024, 20:03 »
It is with great sadness that we have to tell you all that ‘Wighty’ (some members knew her privately as Ginny), who was a highly valued and longstanding member of our online community, is no longer with us.  She passed away on Tuesday 2nd July.

She joined the forums on 13th of June 2007, and was a frequent visitor here, who not only gave gardening advice but, due to running a hardware/DIY shop on the Isle of Wight, was able and willing to advise on many things.  She made many friends on these forums who I’m sure will miss her.

Wighty ’s log-on is still operational and if you would like to send a message of sympathy to her husband, Paul, via the PM system, please do.  I’m sure he would like to know we are thinking of her.

Oh goodness, that is so sad. I know she hadn’t been well but hadn’t realised it was so serious. RIP Wighty. I will definitely message Paul

Wighty is going to be sorely missed. She was such a lovely person with a fantastic sense of humour. At times she could be completely outrageous but never with any malice. I know I'll miss her and the forums just won't be the same.
RIP Ginny - you'd many friends you'd never met.

So sorry to hear the news, the forums will be less without her.
Many condolences to Paul and the rest of her family.

We PM'ed on occasions and can't quite believe we've lost such a dear member.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

When I joined AG a few years ago, Wighty / Ginny was one of the first people I got to know on the forums. Whether commiserating about the difficulties of growing courgettes or sharing some local Isle of Wight colloquialisms, she was always a member I enjoyed chatting with. She will be missed here!  Rest in peace Wighty.

Ginny had a unique way of sharing her life and times with Paul on her beloved island over many years, and will be greatly missed on these forums.

Sincere condolences to Paul and family.
