I potted on my big flowered begonias in March using John Innes No. 2 and kept them in my greenhouse but they didn't show a lot of growth though enough to plant them out in mid-April. Since then, growth has been so slow that they are only just showing their flowers. Is this due to the compost or the cold weather as I usually have a great burst of colour at this time of year.

I'd say BOTH!
I had some pepper plants in newly bought Westland multipurpose, that just sat, for weeks, doing nothing. I repotted them into some Jack's Magic and they greened up and started growing quickly.

Everything in the garden has been flowering weeks later than normal this year, with lots still struggling 
I've even got a Bergenia (Elephant's ears) plant flowering now

Oh rugger! Think I'll go back to Jack's Magic next year and cross my fingers for some warmth sometime soon this year.
