Plum Tree Trunk Splitting

Morning All

I am new to this site, so pleasure to meet you all!

May I ask a quick question, I have a Jubileum plum tree which I planted just over one year ago that I'm in love with.  I was checking up on it this morning and I noticed what looks like a split in the main trunk.  Does anyone know if this is this normal or if I should be worried?  See photo.  I took a quick look on google, but seems inconclusive.  This wasn't there in the winter or spring.  Its been a very wet spring here in London.

Hi there, welcome to the forums.

It doesn’t look as though it’s been stripped by a squirrel. So I’m a bit stumped    It should scar over.

It could be last year’s dry weather followed by recent deluge weather.
