overwintering cauliflower

we usually grow a variety of cauliflower called Boris sown in October to plant out come spring last year they where killed of by a hard frost in the greenhouse  hopefully  sowings this year will be better I've also looked at sowing the all year round variety and together with overwintering cauliflower I was going to sow an overwintering cabbage Caraflex does anyone out there also sow Cauliflower or cabbage in October to overwinter if so any comments would be most welcome
