Sorry no 'photo.  The shrub is about 8ft tall.  The flowers right up the stems are salmon pink at 4 cms.  They are conical shape like bluebells.  The centres are bright yellow. with long stamen about another cm.  I wondered is it might be some variety of Fuschia.   Any ideas please.   Mrs Bouquet

Is it evergreen or deciduous?

It could be a Fuchsia but there's another shrub which has sprung to mind, unfortunately without the name!

There are a few pink varieties of Phygelius  but P. Rectus African Queen seems to fit your description

Mum has already answered your question Mrs. B but I'd already taken the pic so here's my phygelia.

What the picture doesn't show is what an out and out thug it is - mine has been cut down to the ground twice this year, but is now 6' high, and has burrowed under the path into the lawn, and is also growing between the concrete steps. Beware!

Yes that is the "Pretty Shrub" .    I now remember that I had one which was yellow.  In the end I had to get rid of it completely (which took a long time !).    I shall now just enjoy looking at it over my tall wall and impressing the neighbour with my knowledge with naming it    Thanks everybody,  Mrs B
