Mini Green House....fleece cover
« on: February 25, 2008, 07:51 »
Hi there, I'm very very new & inexperienced at growing veg btw!!....I have a mini green house that came with a free fleece cover.....does this go on the outside or the inside of the plastic cover? The instructions didnt say so I'm guessing the answer is really obvious!
Sure I read somewhere ages ago that it goes on the outside, but both covers have ties to secure it to the frame, only the fleece one has ties both sides as if to secure the plastic cover (as if putting over the fleece one) to the fleece cover. So I'm a bit confused!!

I would hazard a guess that it acts as an insulating layer between the waterproof covering and your plants. Put it on the inside!!!

I think your supposed to use one OR the other.
If it wasn't for chemicals we'd be organic.

You can do any of those, I believe. If you using both, the netty thing is inside, as said.

Well ive always used it on the outside. As I reckoned on the frost breaking on the fleece first and not hitting the plastic.  :?

Let the manufacturers of the ready-made ones (where you can't take them apart) know!

I put mine on the outside of the normal plastic cover, simply because I can't be bothered to remove the plastic first, store it, and then replace it!

Didn't seem to come to any particular harm.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Courgette,

At the end of the day it doesn't matter if you want to use one or both, separately or together. It is whatever you feel is right for you.
Plastic on its own acts similar to a greenhouse
Fleece on its own offers some protection from frost
Both together gives the advantage of both. Wether you put the fleece under or over I don't think actually matters.

I use a fleece covered mini greenhouse inside my main green house (for frost protection) until plants are big and strong enuff to go outside in the plastic covered mini greenhouse, after risk of frost, to grow on a bit as the main greenhouse gets a bit full.

Word of warning though, make sure you allow ventilation inside the mini greenhouse on warm days otherwise the plants have a greater tendancy t damp off IMHO.

Try all combinations............gardening and veg growing can have a vertical learning curve at times  :D
