Leeks straight after Garlic/Onions

Hi all,
I have just harvested garlic and onions, can I put my surplus leek in the vacated space as its still this growing season or does it not work that way??

I don't see why not as long as your soil doesn't have any onion diseases such as white rot.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
