Why is the leaves together like that?
Those are the "seed leaves". They are already there inside the seed, squished flat (and thinner because they are dried out). When you sow the seed those two leaves absorb water & push the seed apart but it takes them a while to separate from each other and sometimes the outside of the seed is stuck to them for a while. You'll notice that the next new leaves that appear between those seed leaves look different. They are the first real growth, that wasn't already sitting there in the seed .
