I spent a week chitting some Tromboncino squash and some cucumbers (Pepinex, and some Straight Eight; Garden Sweet seem not to be germinating). Once chitted, I put them in pots. Then decided to set them out in the rain.
This morning, every single seed that had been put in one of those pots had been plucked out and eaten! Squirrel? Chipmunk? Bird? Who knows. Clearly something smarter than I am.
I'm back to square one again, chitting more seeds of Tromboncino, my last two Pepinex seeds, and the Straight Eight. I'm wearing my dunce cap until all the plants have a true leaf or two. That will be hard to explain at the office!
