Perennial veg
« on: September 10, 2022, 18:00 »
I thought I'd try some perennial veg as recommended for a patch in semi-shade.  Put in two sorts of sorrel but they were too sour for me and too slow growing so they went on the heap.
Invested time in hablitzia ( Caucasian spinach ).  Only 4 survived out of trayfull of seed.  Erected a frame for a couple but they reluctant to climb or to grow.  Reports are they take off in second year.
Surprised that what I thought were peasant, semi hedgerow plants were so timid;  expected more vigour.
Still, there's nowt else in that patch but the comfrey wild garlic and the outer fringes of the chard, so I'll let them alone for a bit
