Spuds in this drought.
« on: August 06, 2022, 11:33 »
Good morning everybody,   still no sign of rain.

The subject is spuds, the foliage is still green (I have never watered the spuds) they were all rogue spuds and kept emerging  between my few rows of carrots, I kept pulling them up but in the end gave up and just let them do their own thing!
So the question is do I dig them up?  My theory is that the beasties in the soil will still require moisture and not having very much available in the soil will resort to burrowing into our spuds for moisture. 8)

Over to you.  Cheers,  Tony.

I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

I think you’re right, Tony.  Have a fertle around and see what they are like.  If you leave them too long the slugs will be pleased.  We’ve used me a slug around our main crop.
