Not grown squash before but plot partner always sows some and I liked the sound of uchiki kuri ( from MoS and others)  Dug in muck and mulched plus the buried bottle for watering and the uchiki kuri have really taken off this week - runners like an octopus tentacles .  Will train one up an arch and the other up a blank bit on the raspberry frame.  Oh yes, feeding with nettle tea.
It's all stuff I've learned from you lot on here so ta very, very much

This is my second year growing squash (can't remember the varieties) but I love the way they trail any way they want.  They keep trying to escape the plot and explore the neighbouring plots and I have to keep trying to bring them back in.

Yeah uchi kuri are the most reliable for a british summer. I always grow blue ballet as well, although its a bit later. My crown prince has decided not to grow for some reason


I'm trying an F1 uchi kuri type this year called fictor, it's supposed to be even earlier, could be handy for the cool summer we've had so far in scotland barring a couple of days
