Hi all,

Live just over the border from my plot in the City.  Had the tennancy for a number of years and have the OAP concession.  The City council now want to withdraw my OAP concession as I do not reside within the City boundary.  Can the City discriminate who lives where?

I don't claim to know the applicable laws, but isn't there a map of some kind that gives the legal boundary of your city?

Or did I misunderstand your first sentence, your plot is in the city, and you are not (the border you live just over is not the plot border, but the city boundary)?

It seems to me you either live inside the city boundary or you don't. It should be easy to find out. I'm kind of a simple guy, so maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture.

Yes they can. Our allotments can only be let out within the town and one small attached suburb. Outside that area there is no chance of a plot. So if you are outside the area specified in the council paperwork states for letting plots - well they could even ask you to give up your plot because you are out of area.

If the pressure on plots is the same as around here (at least 30 on waiting list ) I don’t think you can be surprised I’m afraid. As Christine says they could even ask you to give up your plot if you aren’t within the city boundary. FYI There is no OAP discount round here to lose wherever you may reside.
