I suspect they're doing well because they're getting lots of light in your conservatory. Mine were started mid march and the ones on window shelves are still just a few inches tall, whereas the Big Daddy's in the greenhouse are going nuts.

Today they got sent out into the big new world (well it is for them)

Now to get some bees, flies onto the few flowers there are

Hotest day of the year, so they may as well have a bit of it :D

If you think there are not enough pollinators around, you can always...
 TICKLE YOUR TOMATOES!

I've been doing this for awhile, it really works.  Here's a video: https://www.google.com/search?q=tickling+tomato+flowers&oq=tickling+tomato+flowers&aqs=chrome..69i57.12138j0j7&client=ms-android-motorola&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#

I do the first method shown, but since tomatoes are "buzz pollinated", the second method shown probably does work better.

Just potted 34 toms for various parts of the GH and garden, and also about 35 for chums and spares...

Also sowed another 15 'Shirley' yesterday, in case we get a problem somewhere or other!

Potted two per 10" pot on new/old compost. Last year, they thrived quite happily even while they were a little bit crowded, but the yield was fantastic so here we go again!

Feeding is so importsant, as the compost 'food' doesn't last that long, so regular gulps of Tomorite are expected.

It sounds like you will have a very good crop of tomato’s this year, good luck, maybe post a few photos of your crop

I know when mine start fruiting they will never get near a table, they will be picked and just popped away as a snack (thanks to the grand kids)

When I had my tomatoes in the ground, we went away for 3 weeks, they had taken over, we ended up with over 20 kilos of cherry tomatoes, they didnt get fed or watred, just left to fend for themselves

I have no idea what we will get from these in the pots this year

That's bonkers! I don't think you need much advice, given that your plants thrive on neglect. Awesome!

It was a few years as go, we had a very wet summer
I planted them where my chickens had their run, so the ground was very fertile

Never happened since
Not much grows there any more, just a few wild flowers
Maybe the way things are going I might have to get my hens back

The first of my tomatoes went into the ground yesterday. I put them into gallon nursery pots (compost, a small handful of pelleted dolomitic lime, couple teaspoons granular 13-13-13) maybe 2 weeks ago, but the plants have doubled in size. I'll plant more later today. Just 2 varieties this year, a couple Gardeners Delight, the rest are Garden Leader 'Monster', a large slicing tomato.

I might start some plants later in the season, Stupice seems like a good late-season candidate.

Good luck, I'm going to plant out some more at the middle to end of May, I have no idea if that will give them enough growing time
