We had a hard freeze last night. It was -5 C, which thankfully was not as cold as forecasted. Most plants that I thought could be affected, I moved indoors, or otherwise protected. My beds with spinach, lettuce, and other greens were covered with old comforters.
One plant that I thought would not need protection seems to have been hit by the cold. My Rhubarb plants had been vigorous and growing beautifully. This morning, they look like frozen spinach
Lesson learned, next time I will protect young Rhubarb.
A question: are they likely to come back? I'm kicking myself over this mistake, never thought that rhubarb would be an issue, given that it is widely grown in northern US states, like Minnesota.
