seed sower
« on: August 23, 2021, 09:33 »
I know I have raised this topic before some time ago but once again I'm going to ask if anyone has bought and used any seed sowers this season I looked at one seed sower in Kings catalogue called a pro-seeder that's said to allow individual seed sowing all shapes and sizes one at a time without wasting a single seed?

however I'm still unsure to commit to buying one before finding out if seed sowers are actually worth buying any feedback would be most appreciated RW

Do you mean something like this?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=seed+sower&_sacat=0

I would have thought that at £2.25 it was worth a punt?

The pro-seeder at £12 or there abouts...that's maybe got a 10 year life. £1.20 a year..2 and a bit pence a week...

The man maths confirms that, yes indeed, you should hang the expense and go ahead with your purchase.

Make the commitment to purchase man, you know it makes sense  :D :D

Indeed, as mentioned...

The pro-seeder at £12 or there abouts...that's maybe got a 10 year life. £1.20 a year..2 and a bit pence a week...etc. etc...

I was offering the other as a cheaper alternative, perhaps you didn't read the rest of my post?

I tend to use my finger nails for some seeds and the crease of my palm for scattering tiny ones, but I do have one sent as a free gift years ago and never used it so might give it a try next year.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Sorry Br, your post was not entirely clear to me.

Like you, Goosey I’ve always used my hand or a finger nail too.

buying a seed setter is not the  problem if its £12 or £20 pounds  I'm trying to find out from any of our many members if this pro-seeder or any others like that are worth using i hope its not a to difficult question to ask anyone  ;)

I'm also pleased that you saying  that old seed setter could last me for 10 years Blackpool Rocket something I obviously missed in Kings catalogue  :D :D :D

Just trying to make it light-hearted as you've obviously not been having much luck with any sensible replies.

I've obviously missed the mark by some way.

Sorry to have caused such angst.

As you were.

I’ve never got on with the cheaper version that BR shows links to, I’ve had a few bought me over the years & got rid of them in the end, and I’ve not tried the one that Aunty links, although they have 10% off so maybe that might sway you Rowlandwells, sorry I can’t be of much help, but I find my bare hands & fingers are enough with occasional use of my pen knife to separate some seeds . Perhaps you could invest in one & let us all know how you get on. ( if it’s really good, buy the company and make a killing, lol) Best of luck whatever you decide  :)

I have used this 'banjo' seed sower with great success, I also have a cylindrical plunger type seed sower but this one is a little more 'broadcast' as the seeds flow out more freely.  Cheers,  Tony.
