This toilet roll thing?

Can i assume you use it like a pot and then plant the whole thing in the ground so that the toilet roll rots down and the roots are then not disturbed?

That is the theory. Make sure you ensure the toilet roll top is covered by soil.

And while they're starting up inside, don't crowd them too close together (get moldy fast) or overwater (mold again). A few people complained of unusual mold growing from certain glues used by some roll manufacturers so watch for them.
Once in the soil (with the roll top covered), the paper disintegrates.
