Hi all, I've been given a pack of Wilko 50 mixed onion sets, but was wondering what varieties they are as it doesnt say on the pack or on their website. Anyone know?

I'd be surprised if it's anything exotic, given that Wilko's is usually at a fairly low price point.  I haven't seen the bags, but have you looked to see if some might be red and some white?

They're red, white and yellow.

Tbh I wasnt going to do 'serious' onions this year, but merely plant them around other things as a repellant crop. I noticed my overflow bed where all the waifs and strays get planted suffered zero bird or slugs attacks on lettuces etcand I think its because of the alliums planted among them.

I think onions can inhibit bean germination / growth but otherwise can be planted with other crops, as long as there's no risk of them being overgrown with weeds or outcompeted for light by other plants
