Hi,

Picked one of my Garlic's yesterday.  Solent Wight.

Seems to be just a single, small bulb.  Disappointed to be honest as planted early November.

Is this a failed crop, or have I just picked it too soon?

Wait until the leaves die back before harvesting, they will need watering through the dry spell, to give of their best. I always think the occasional liquid feed helps, fingers crossed the rest will have split into cloves by the time they're ready to harvest.
The garlic farm says

Plant: October to March. (January planting best but will crop well from end of March planting)
Harvest: July to August.

Looks like you’ve just harvested too early. If you cut through the bulb, you will probably be able to see where it has started to split. Still useable and saves peeling individual cloves.

Looked at my garlic this afternoon and harvested this which is almost ready and good enough to use. It is a hard neck variety (with a flower stem), but I noticed that the soft neck type were not as advanced and it looks like that is what you have.
