Trees!
« on: May 15, 2020, 20:48 »
I've been given 2 trees from a neighbour...

Really lovely gift, but I've no idea where to put them.

They're both grafted, one orange pippin  that will grow to a height of 10ft, and one mystery plum.

As you can probably tell, I know nothing about trees...

Can I keep them in (70cm diameter) square pots?

I'm moving house in a couple of years, so would like to take them with me if possible. Hence wondering about pots...

Any advice...

Hello are the trees bare root or already potted ,if bare rooted plant in the pots you have using a John Innes  number 3 loam based compost, check to see where the graft is before potting up, if already potted use bigger pots and same compost warn your removal company that they're going to be heavy  jezza

Theyre already potted - sorry, should have said that.

We'll just hire a van,  I think - we don't have too much stuff so won't need a delivery man.

Thank you for the reply :)

For a couple of years they should be fine in pots.  Just make sure you water and feed properly.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
