got any compost
« on: April 30, 2020, 09:00 »
how are you coping with buying compost because most places round here have  either ran out or stopped trading so we where lucky we managed to get some compost and a couple of grow bags delivered i also bought 2 bales of peat that I'm making my own compost mix as a trial to see how it works

i used to mix my own compost some years ago with a pre- mix bag of minerals you added to your mix but i think i got lazy mixing it so i bout bagged compost looks like I'm going back in time mixing my own again

There is a garden centre near me where you can ring an order through, pay by card and collect at the gate, but I haven't had to use them yet.

Interesting idea I heard from a plot neighbour at the weekend.  Her whole street clubbed together and bought a pallet of professional grade growing compost direct from a dealer.  It worked out at £4.40 per bag.  You would have to organise unloading your end, but a couple of her neighbours took it on and then people collected in turn  :)

No I’ve got keys to the garden club Trading store ;) we’ve been selling by appointment to members who have contacted us.

that sounds like a good idea New Shoot i would be interested in your supplier if you could  send me a contact number on my messages forum that would be most appreciated because we use around 40 bags a year ourselves and I'm sure my other garden friends would be interested do i assume £4.40 includes delivery?
many thanks RW
