Hi all due to the lock down I have tried to grow some veg at home but something seems to be disturbing the soil. I have a tub with carrot seeds germinated but overnight the seedlings are in a mess. Likewise planted out some rocket seedlings in a tomato bag from last year only to find a pit created overnight at one end. All seems very odd! I have had unwelcome visits from a cat to my asparagus at home but that only seems to leave “gifts” not dig pits in the surface of the soil. Appreciate any thoughts thanks HH

I think foxes like freshly dug in compost, I've also had squirrels dig stuff up. I think you might need to cover some crops initially. Or get a trailcam!

Birds will dig in the soil for food, particularly if it's soft, I've got a blackbird digging deep enough to uproot my shallots at the moment!

I have had that with squirrels in the past both at home and the allotment.

As above I watched a Blackbird digging in my pea bed other day it must have scratted down a good inch luckily the peas are too big for them to pull out. With Carrot seeds just cover with fleece or fine netting and that should solve your problem.
