I have tried a number of times to take raspberry cuttings and cultivate them. Unfortunately this has never been successful for me. My research indicated that I should take the cuttings from new growth, but this still resulted in 100% failure for me. I would be interested to hear of how this can be achieved or where I went wrong.

Cuttings, ie pieces cut from the stem and put to root - don't often work.

Normally during autumn/early winter you can dig up rooted suckers beside the old plants which can be planted separately.

Interesting as like you I am too trying to get the cuttings to work, plants seem healthy enough above ground but zero root below!
Sticking to plan B as mam suggests

I find raspberries produce lots of runners which I would use instead of cuttings.
Is there a particular reason for trying cuttings?

Voice of wisdom there.

We've dug down to find runners, cut them off and replanted them not in the path/grass/drive the all summer long the past few summers and they've pretty much all taken. Once the newly planted raspberries take we'll have to take out all of it's new runners and they'll be planted whenever we find them appearing. We weren't all that precious about them either. Good feed and a drink.

I wish this was my case. I purchased three canes around ten years ago. While they are a fantastic fruit them seem very slow to send out any runners. It would seem that I will need to persevere and encourage the runners rather than trying again with the cuttings. Thanks for you the comments and support

Well done! Now what this tells me is you need to take a lot of cuttings! Now what I really should be saying is that I have heard that the secret to getting them to root is bottom heat and sandy acidic soil.

There maybe something in the heat part as they have been in the greenhouse for weeks through that hot period! Might be worth trying a few cuttings and pop the pot on a heat pad or propogator!

As well as pulling up runners and replanting I take lower woody cuttings from when you cut down at end of season.
I plant about 4 cuttings in deep pots (those supermarket type flower ones). Find that at least one or maybe two of the four will root and can then be planted out the next Spring.
They tend to have long trailing roots in the pot, so you know they are running healthy. The ones that just do not not want to grow die after a month, so do pull them out the pot.
I take a cutting about four to six inches that has some nodes present and dip it in some cinnamon (or rooting powder( before placing them around the edge of the pot.
Just leave them outside and unless its dry over the winter, there is enough water to keep it going.
