Muddled seedlings?!
« on: April 15, 2020, 17:21 »
....a little help?

I have tromboncino, patty pan, turk's turban, and atena seedlings....they were all nicely labelled but no more. Disaster.

I was planning on planting them out in various places - tromboncino climbing up a frame. Now I have no idea which is which as all seedlings look the same.

Any advice...

Oh dear!

How far advanced are the seedlings?  You might be able to tell the courgette atena from the others once it gets going - it's a compact plant rather than one that climbs/trails.

I'm not sure how you might distinguish the others, though

PS. Welcome to the forums  :)

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Thanks Yorkie!

Theyre about 4 or 5 inches tall, sown last month.

I think I may grow them on in pots a little longer and see if any of them screams - TROMBONCINO at me.

Very annoying - and my own fault. Oh well.

Growing seeds is a bit like putting things in the freezer!  You might know what it was at the time, but a month later it looks different.  I've defrosted a meat pie to find out it was apple before now.  I try (most of the time_ to label everthing. (I've just read my answer to my hubby he answered 'I really bu'''er it up as well don't I).

If it makes you feel better, I did this 2 years ago with all my squash as well - I used what I thought was a permanent marker but it was not! I only worked out what some things were once they were nearly mature! Same issue with my tomatoes which has resulted in me having some I'd bought on a whim at fairs that I've saved seed from as 'large yellow \ orange tom, medium pink tom and yellow pear!

It's a good learning experience! You probably still have time to re-sow the trombo if that one is critical re climbing.

Good luck!

Ahh, thank you. I will need to use permanent marker - didnt realise how quickly ink disappears.

Learning curve
