Over wintering onions

Last week they was just tipping the surface but I’ve noticed this morning that the tops have been nipped off I think it’s mice or birds will they still grow thanks

Yes, they probably will.  Birds are more likely.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Have you got some fleece, or enviromesh that you can lay over them for a few weeks - by then the birds will have found something else to eat.

The only net and I’ve got is what they put around scaffolding netting but I think that’s a bit heavy for them and it is in
