I use chicken wire arches to protect most of my veg from Cats, Rabbits and pigeons.  The only thing they are not effective against are rats and mice.

Look on e-bay and purchase a large roll.  Cut it to lengths to suit your beds.  They are re-useable, portable and last for years.

Best of luck.

Ha ha

I'd love a cat-eating dog - but my hubby doesn't like dogs!

Hi RugbyMad

I'd be interested to know how you make the chicken wire arches and what size they are?  They sound like the kind of thing I was thinking about.

Soak some teabags in Olbas Oil and scatter them around your raised beds.

Replace them after heavy rain or after 10 days. This will make the cats unhappy,  But not harm them.  They will avoid your plot and go elsewhere.

We have 4 cats, so an ongoing battle.
About two seasons ago i started putting large square plastic mesh on the beds, The type used for beans and peas.
When stretched out there is plenty of room for the veggies to grow thru the mesh but it makes it hard for cats to dig. Result is no cat poop in the beds and no harm to our pets.

I also stretch some net out after digging over to stop them using the bare soil, this works well too.

Didn't you post a solution involving " mushroom pots" of jeyes fluid, Henry? Or was it all a dream....

Jeyes fluid contains Phenol which is poisonous to pets.

I just read an anti-cat tip that said to sprinkle cayenne pepper everywhere. Could be nasty if they got it in their eyes.

The idea was to fill the bottom of a small container and to cover it with an upturned saucer, or similar (to prevent water ingress), then to bury the whole lot in a mushroom-shaped hole (which you have cunningly dug beforehand) with a thin covering of soil.

Cats hate the smell and start avoiding the area.

If Henry didn't post this one, then thanks to the real author    .
