A tomato quandary.
« on: October 17, 2019, 18:23 »

I picked up a packet of tomato seeds whilst holidaying in Poros (luverly place). The variety is "Tomato Ace 55 VF", now then...Premier Seeds Direct say it's Indeterminate, as does Victory Seeds.  Johnsons seeds say determinate, as does Tomato Growers Supply Company.

There are countless other seed suplliers that cannot decide!  What is a poor gardener to do?

Cheers,  Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, grow some and see if you like them

I'm sure this had been discussed before, but I can't find it atm.

If IRC Ace is determinate but Ace vf is indeterminate .. It was the further breeding for Verticillium and Fusarium resistance that also made the difference between bush and taller growth.

Try them both ways and see which turns up best. To be honest we get a really long hot growing season down here and I let a lot of my plants grow with two and sometimes more leaders... get amazing crops of tomatoes. One tomato I always grow as a bush is my Roma VR looks a bit messy but again super crops.
