Should you paint broken fruit tree branches ?

Big lesson learned this year as both my Victoria plum and family pear tree had SO much fruit it
has broken their branches  😣   this was the first year they were really full if fruit and I was super excited and had no idea I should reduce weight -  oh well lesson learnt. I have read that you should  paint the wound on the branch and also read that you should leave the tree to heal itself ? What is the best way to treat the broken branches both are about 2cm diametre.  And what paint should  I use - is it organic ?
