Pooh Sticks - they've changed the rules!

Well in Scotland at least. No longer do we play the game using the cards with Advent Calendar doors and cardboard spatulas but now we get one mini-sample bottle instead.

Not sure how I feel about this new-fangled tech but we'll see.

Same here in England as well - I did my test last week, I did think it was a darn site easier than it used to be  :lol:  I wonder if the stick is now computer analysed, as well  :unsure:

Yes they are

FIT uses an automatic analysis process (a machine analyser generates numerical results) whereas gFOBT(the previous test) requires a subjective human judgement of a colour change. This should reduce room for error in the measurement/interpretation of a result.

Took me a while to figure out it is not the pooh sticks I was thinking!
"how can you change the rules of throwing a stick in the river and watching them race under the bridge"

Ok I'm off now ::)

My OH got one the other week so no more Pooh stick games! Many years ago I used to test poo for any signs of new or old blood and I just took a sample from the patient's pot, put it in a test-tube with some distilled water, then I added a chemical agent so if any blood was present it changed the colour of the water. Maybe they've done it because it's more cost-effective?
I don't like bananas unless it's raining. (A quote from my great-niece).

Obviously that comes into it, but the link says it is less subjective.

So rather than relying on someone's eyesight and opinion it's probably done on a chemical analyser.

It is all explained in the link I gave previously....

FIT stands for Faecal Immunochemical Test. It is a type of faecal occult blood test which uses antibodies that specifically recognise human haemoglobin (Hb). It is used to detect, and can quantify, the amount of human blood in a single stool sample...
