A poem for W.I.
« on: August 13, 2019, 12:19 »
It is for the September meeting and has to be a poem entitled "Why".   I have had a look around but cannot find anything like that.    I wonder if some of you might be able to suggest one.   regards  Mrs Bouquet

I'll try and write you one but there's no guarantee I can!
I don't like bananas unless it's raining. (A quote from my great-niece).

Ah, thanks Gg.  I didn't expect you to do that, and don't want to put you to any trouble.  But what a kind offer.  :)  Mrs B

MB, no trouble whatsoever. I haven't written any poetry for a while, so maybe that will inspire me.

Hi MB.
I've just "roted" this so see what you think.

Why when our worlds so beautiful
Does it sometimes make us cry?
Theres many a time our tear-stained faces
Look towards the sky.

Why do you look for the answer there
When its deep within your heart
Because the love we keep is stronger
Than the hate that tears apart.

Why, when we know the hurt and pain
That many wars have brought
Cant we all unite in peace
As our Holy Father taught?

Why, as its our only chance
To save our world for others.
The answer lies within ourselves
Our sisters, and our brothers.

Why not walk along with me
Who knows where it will lead,
But when we reach our journeys end
Well plant a tiny seed.

Why? Because this seed will grow
Into a mighty tree
That will last the test of time
For all eternity.

Gg, that is a very beatiful poem, it has made me shed a small tear.
I just wish that I could right such lovely words.  Here is my effort, written at 3am in my cabin on my holiday.

Mummy, WHY can't I go out and play, the sun is shining it's a lovely day.
and WHY doesn't Dolly want to play, she must be feeling miserable today.
Why do the stars shine so bright at night, from my bedroom window they're very bright.
Mummy, WHY is Teddy not well today.  I've asked him, but he will not say.

Mummy, WHY can't I have a Baby Brother  ??
You have asked me before, and I'll tell you again
because I said NO and I am your Mother.

WHY do you ask me all these things, now take Dolly and Teddy and play on your swings

Don't laugh too much at my effort, well actually, I don't mind too much if you do   :D ::)

Thanks again Gg,  regards,  Mrs Bouquet

MB, I'm glad you liked it. With your poem I can just see the conversation between the child and her mum and it's lovely!
