First courgettes of the year
« on: July 01, 2019, 20:36 »
So today I picked the first courgettes, in fact three which I used in my linguine dish for tea.
They were about inch n arf in diameter and I have to say..

I am already sick of them
Wonder if the chickens know its that time of the year.

😂 I only planted mine out on Sunday so I’ve probably got a week to batten down the hatches

Picked three today, plants would appear to be doing very well even though the soil seems to be poor.

Ping-pong... then tennis and yesterday a softball..... you guessed it I'm growing a round variety for a change as well as black beauty ordinary shaped ones..

Firs was picked a week or more ago - a little light green striped globe. Then I noticed I'd missed two - tennis ball sized.

Today, hiding under a large leaf = a nearly-football sized one.

So much for choosing a variety that I thought would be easier to keep up with. Golf anyone? I am aiming at catching them small from now on. LOL

Fat chance..

I always grow Floridor, the round yellow ones, if I catch them at dobber size (remember the big marble  ;)) then I am happy, after that the chickens get them lol, if they get to football the chickens go on strike and walk away  :D :D

Picked my first yellow ones last week (not globe type - that seems the wrong shape for a courgette to me!). Neighbours are already starting to look nervous - planted too many again.

They are even producing in my worm free garden.  Only picked  9 or 10 so far but there would appear to be a bumper crop on the way.

xx
