Hello

I知 looking for squash varieties that will perform well in the NE of Scotland and ideally be ok for storage. Does anyone have any tried and tested varieties that can handle a cooler summer?

I managed to grow one last year (see pic) but it was of course exceptionally warm and attempts in other more normal summers have failed.

I'd suggest butternut like Hunter F1 and Crown Prince F1, Delicata as all worth a go. If you can get them away early and provide some shelter even better. They're all listed in Klaus Laitenberger's Vegetables for the Irish Garden and Ireland isn't known for blazing hot summers.
Also check out realseeds list of squashes. They've a large range and honest descriptions. They're in Wales, again not known for hot summers.

"Scottish summer", that's an oxymoron, isn't it? 

Just kidding, I've holidayed in Scotland many times. The summers up there are regularly hot and sunny, but very short, lasting only a few hours.
