Rhubarb Crowns
« on: February 04, 2008, 08:56 »
Good Morning,

I wonder if anyone could give me some advice on our rhubarb. We have aobut 4 or 5 crowns, and one is coming up nicely, whilst the others are starting to show. I would like to know if we can dig these crowns up, and give them away. I only want to keep one, as I a the only rhubarb eater in the house, and that would be more than sufficient. I have looked through the posts, but can't find anything about it.

Is it too late to be digging them up, and if not, how do I go about it?
Thankyou

Shouldn't be a problem. But make sure they have lots of well rotted manure in their new locations. The muck needs to go in the hole they go in, as well as being on top as a mulch.

Cheers.

Rhubarb are incredibly hardy!  Digging up and splitting round about now is still okay but you don't want to be leaving it too late.
Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success.
Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.
